FOPW helped launch the Philadelphia Water Department’s Waterways Restoration Team by doing an educational mini-meadow project with the team’s co-founders at the Loesche Elementary School in Northeast Philadelphia. The project was funded with a grant from the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary.  The Waterways Restoration Team removes items such as abandoned cars which leak oil, shopping carts, and old tires from the creeks that flow through Philadelphia.  This team and the Green City, Clean Waters program have become stewardship models for other cities in the U.S.A.
